Occupiers' Liability

Occupier's liability is a term used in tort to describe the duty that the occupier of premises has to anyone who comes onto his land to make sure they are not injured by anything that is there. The occupier has a greater responsibility towards visitors than towards trespassers. These duties are set out in two different Acts: the Occupiers’ Liability Act 1957 and the Occupiers, Liability Act 1984.
