Tort is a wrong which entitles the injured party to claim compensation from the person who committed it. The main types of tort are: negligence; defamation; tresspass; occupiers liability; deceit; breach of statutory duty; nuisance and the rule in Rylands v Fletcher.

This unit examines the basic principles of tortious liability and the court system that is used to process claims in the negligence of tort.
